CybExer announced the appointment of Mansel Thewlis as Director of Military
Programs and National Resilience. With more than 20 years of service in the British Army,
Mansel brings extensive expertise in cyber, communications and training to support CybExer’s
growing presence in the UK.
Before commissioning into the Royal Signals in 2005, Mansel worked in Major Incident
Management for the UK’s national communications infrastructure with British Telecom. During
his Army career, he served in operational and strategic roles including tours to Afghanistan,
senior staff appointments in information security and cyber strategy, and leadership of training
programs for junior Officers and senior engineers. His later positions included an exchange with
the US Army’s Office of the Chief Information Officer, Operations Officer for the British Army
Cyber Information Services Operations Centre, and Chief Operating Officer for all Field Army
Cyber and Electro Magnetic Activity.
Mansel is already familiar with CybExer’s work and people, having seen first-hand the impact of
the company’s cyber exercise programs. Speaking about his new role, he said:
"Having already witnessed the talent of the people, their professionalism and the power of
CybExer's offering, it is exceptionally exciting as well as an honour to become part of the team. I
am looking forward to helping the company in its work bolstering Defence and national
resilience."
The appointment follows CybExer’s recent expansion in the UK with the opening of a new office
at the Dorset Innovation Park, a strategic move to support Defence, government and critical
industry partners in the UK.
Andrus Kivisaar, CEO of CybExer, commented:
"Mansel’s experience and leadership are a perfect fit for CybExer’s mission in the UK. His
background in Defence and cyber training will play an important role in strengthening our
partnerships and supporting the resilience of the UK’s Defence ecosystem. We are proud to
welcome him to the team."
