CybExer has introduced a significant upgrade to its assessment engine. This expansion gives organizations greater control over how they evaluate workforce capability and align training programs with recognized standards. Our platform initially supported the NIST NICE 2017 framework before expanding further, and many customers have asked for broader coverage as industry practices evolve. This update delivers that flexibility.

Support for Multiple NIST NICE Versions

The NIST NICE framework went through notable changes as it progressed from the 2017 version to NICE 1.0 and the recently released NICE 2.0 edition. Each version refined the role definitions, tasks and knowledge areas required from cybersecurity professionals. CybExer now supports all three. Customers can select the version that corresponds to their internal policies or regulatory environment. This removes the need to maintain parallel tools or outdated spreadsheets, and it ensures that assessments reflect the most current expectations for cyber workforce development.

Integration of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework

In addition to NICE, the platform now incorporates the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. CSF provides a more holistic view of organizational cyber maturity through its Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond and Recover functions. By adding CSF to our assessment engine, users can measure skills not only at the individual role level but also in terms of their contribution to broader operational readiness. This helps teams understand strengths and weaknesses in a way that connects directly to day-to-day resilience.

New Capability to Add Any Custom Framework

One of the most important enhancements is the ability to build and deploy entirely custom frameworks. Some organizations operate in specialized sectors that follow internal or sector-specific competency models. Others have proprietary role structures or unique operational processes that do not map neatly to standard frameworks. CybExer now makes it possible to import or construct these models inside the platform. Customers can define their own roles, tasks, skills and proficiency levels, then tie assessments directly to these definitions. This creates a clear link between training outcomes and the organization’s real operating environment.

What This Means for Your Training and Assessment Programs

The expanded framework support allows customers to unify assessment practices across teams and regions. It also enables a level of precision that was previously difficult to achieve, since the platform now adapts to each organization rather than the other way around. Training programs can be tailored more accurately. Workforce capability can be measured with greater clarity. Leadership gains a more robust view of readiness that reflects the frameworks they already rely on.
