What Is AI Fabric

AI Fabric is middleware that connects artificial intelligence with the Cyber Range. It abstracts AI connectivity and gives users the flexibility to choose between public AI services such as OpenAI or Google and secure on-premise AI models.

With AI Fabric, sensitive workloads never leave the Cyber Range environment, while non-sensitive tasks can be safely offloaded to public AI services. This balance gives organizations both security and flexibility in the same framework.

Why It Matters

Until now AI in cyber ranges has been limited to generating text, summarizing reports or providing hints. AI Fabric changes this by enabling AI to take action directly inside the Cyber Range environment.

AI is no longer a passive assistant. It is an active teammate that can execute tasks, orchestrate scenarios and support every team in an exercise. The result is a training environment that is smarter, faster and more realistic.

The AI Action Engine

At the center of AI Fabric is the AI Action Engine. It translates language-based commands into actions inside the Cyber Range.

For defenders this can mean incident reporting, task guidance or automated hints. For attackers it can mean running breach campaigns. For referees it can mean progress tracking and scoring. Content creators and environment managers gain faster scenario building and more agile deployment.

Instead of only suggesting what should be done, the AI can now do it.

The Business Value

AI Fabric improves efficiency by automating routine work such as reporting, scoring and deployment, freeing people to focus on higher-value decisions. It makes it possible to run large and complex exercises with fewer resources, while AI-driven attackers and defenders add authenticity to the experience. At the same time, organizations retain control over whether to use secure local AI or connect with public services, ensuring the right balance between innovation and security. Together these benefits strengthen both the quality and the impact of cyber training.

Looking Ahead

AI Fabric is built as a foundation. The Action Engine will continue to expand with new use cases and tools, making AI more capable and adaptive inside the range.

It introduces a new way for organizations to run exercises, manage teams and create training content inside the Cyber Range.

This is only the beginning of the journey towards a fully cognitive cyber range.
